i just got a new iMac. when I transferred the files from my old mac, the old files show on a 2nd desktop. They have 2 different user accounts. I have no idea what happened. Can I just delete the old administrator acct? I really don't need all my stuff in 2 different places?

You can, but first make sure the account you do want is working OK and that all your applications, settings, and documents are correct and can be accessed. If all is working OK, log on to the account you wish to keep and remove the one you no longer need.
