I'm a tech at a hospital and I've read that with the new FireVault built into Lion, instead of home directory encryption, it now provides full disk encryption which is mandatory at our hospital. It states that it also has instant wipe feature, though I haven't found any information on what exactly it does or how to enable it, and what the perks of using it would be. I was wondering if anyone else knew the answer to this question. I didn't know if Instant Wipe is like the MobileMe wipe, or what exactly it is.

The instant wipe feature isn't live yet, I assume it will go live when Apple brings out iCloud.

The instant wipe feature should work just like the iOS wipe feature, visit Apple's iCloud website and click a button and it will wipe the drive of all data.
