Some details such as:

a. What model of iMac is this? How old is it?
b. What OS was on there before?
c. Where did you get the disc?
d. What does it look like (the disc I mean -- gray or black?)

As for getting the disc out, try restarting the mac and hold the mouse button down and keep holding until the disc pops out.

iMac G5, i think it might be 2004 im not too sure.
I got the standard start up discs with it but went onto software update and updated it to 10.3.9
Got the OS X Tiger discs off ebay but just realised they are for a macbook pro -.- my mistake there.
Just downloaded tiger for the g5 proper download off the apple site and its not working and i download the snow leopard one too and it says this when i open it?

Snow Leopard does not work on G5 iMacs, so you shouldn't have tried installing it.

You got the wrong product on eBay and will be unable to use that version of Tiger due to it being Intel-only (The MacBook Pro install discs used an Intel-only version of Tiger, and your processor is PowerPC).

You should contact the seller and inform him that he sent you the wrong product so you can get a refund or the correct discs. If he gets uppity, take it to eBay buyer protection so you can get your money back. And then leave him a nasty review.

In the meantime, do a clean install of 10.3 from your iMac install discs, since that's all you're going to get to work right now.

I have got the software updated to about 10.3.9 and have bought tiger 10.4.0 from ebay which says is compatible for this mac.

I just want it updating so i can use it like anyone else. not just sitting here with what i have is there anyway. why is this so difficult

I cant even download the simplest of things cause when i do, this appears. Can you tell me what it means and why i cant download anything.

A retail DVD for 10.4 (the kind you buy in an Apple Store) is compatible with your Mac. Install discs for 10.4 that came with an Intel Mac are not compatible with your Mac. It sucks, I know, but that was part of the craziness that was the transition to Intel processors during the time of 10.4.

That said, DJ Mixer Pro 2.0.3 is compatible with OS X 10.3. If you're having a problem with mounting the disk image, it's not because your OS is old. Have you tried downloading another copy from their website?

And Anthony you just purchase the black full retail install Tiger DVD and not silver/grey system discs which will work ONLY with the model they were released with. Such sales abound on eBay so you have to be very careful.
