Macintosh HD on desktop and sidebar?

WTH???? its missing. I did a clean install of Lion and now its missing anyway to get it back? would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance and is anyone else having problem?

I don't know why you can't see your hard drive on the Desktop. Mine shows up after doing the upgrade from SL -> Lion.
In Finder, go into the Preferences for Finder and click on the Sidebar tab to select what items show up in your sidebar.

It's not there if you do a clean install. I did a clean install and noticed that Lion defaults to a clean desktop.

To add the HD back to the desktop, go to Finder > Preferences > General and check "Hard Disks" under "Show these items on the desktop."
