Lion: three-finger swipe up/down to jump to top/bottom of page?

Hi guys

A three finger swipe up/down in Leopard jumped to the top/bottom of the page - in Lion it selects text. I miss the three-finger shortcut - it's a pain scrolling with two fingers all the way to the bottom of a long page.

I haven't found a way to change this on the trackpad preferences - any ideas?

Many many thanks!

Really? I've got 3 fingers set just for navigation back and forward... I'll have to look into that one! It was never my default either for 3 finger drag to select text. That's odd.

3 fingers swipe sideways was for navigation back / forward - but up/down jumped you to the top or the bottom of the page...

... and the mysterious 3 finger swipe up/down text select in lion is no longer happening.

Odd indeed :)

i figured out the text select - it grabs text when you have 3 finger drag enabled, also, but i also don't see an option for 3 finger paging.

I've never seen 3 finger swipe do that. In SL, 3 fingers up always showed desktop and 3 fingers down brought back open windows/apps.

Thanks for the keyboard shortcut MYmacROX and the better touch suggestion IvanLasston - will give it a go.

MYmacROX: my SL settings had 4 up for desktop and 4 down for open windows/apps.

Yeah, you can change that in System Preferences. Notice the little drop down arrows next to some of the gesture options.

Yup, I'm doing it right now, with my magic trackpad...

-3 finger swipe "up", brings me to the very top of the page.
-3 finger swipe "down", brings me to the bottom of the page.
-3 fingers swipe to the "left", brings me to the previous page.
-3 fingers swipe to the "right", brings me to the next page (if the next page is active)

This is all done with SL, will it all change with Lion, even on the Magic Track Pad?

Interesting. I know I used to use 3 finger left/right to go fwd/bkwd in Safari, but never had the functionality to go top/bottom of page. That just brought up desktop or down brought up expose. Something like that.

Yes, it will change with Lion. But a lot of gestures are customizable in System Preferences>Trackpad. When I say "customizable" I mean most of the functions give you 2 or 3 options for how to bring them up. You choose to use either 2 or 3 fingers to swipe or scroll back and forth between pages. Stuff like that...
All in all, it's really easy to get the hang of.

Yes, that's exactly how it worked for me in SL, too.

Most of the gestures ARE customisable with Lion in trackpad system preferences (ie 2, 3 or 4 finger swipe to scroll through pages) - but there is no way I can see to get that 3 finger up/down functionality.

I'd also like to let you guys know that you can choose to disable 3 finger drag (I personally don't care for it much) and revert back to single finger tap and drag. This feature however, is oddly placed. It's not in trackpad preferences, but rather in :Universal Access>Trackpad Options>Dragging (with or without drag lock)

So basically, when set this way you get back the ability to navigate back and forth in apps with three fingers like you used to.
