Ok bassically ive bought a iMac G5 - OS X - Power PC . Exactly like this one here New Apple iMac G5 Line Delivers Faster Performance, Built-in Wireless & Mac OS X Tiger

I bought my iMac purposely for producing music. i make my music on Proppeller Heads Reason 5 ( https://www.propellerheads.se/shop/index.cfm?fuseaction=product_detail&ID=10700&Cat=1000 )

When i downloaded the disc and everything the icon for reason would come up with a Prohibbited sign (the circle with a slash in it) and it wouldnt let me use the program, everytime i would try open it it would say the same thing
'not supported on this architecture'

But i dont see why not, i use these same iMacs at my college to make music on?

Ive got the latest imac update - OS X Version 10.5.8

ALSO When i first bought my iMac G5 i didnt have the reason 5.0 disc but i downloaded the demo in the meen time which
gave me a 30 minute time trial, and the program worked fine?? so it can obviously run on the mac??

BEG SOMEONE TO HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM OR ELSE ILL SELL THIS MAC????????

G'day and welcome to the forums.

Sounds like your software requires an Intel machine to install. PowerPC architecture is now pretty well aged and many software applications recently released are Intel only. If you just got the iMac, should have looked an an Intel machine alas.

Yep, Reason 5 is pretty new (released late last year.) Id be surprised if they had kept up PPC support.

Try and find an older version of Reason. or buy a new Mac. or use a different piece of software. I'd recommend Ableton to people that use Reason.

Yes...this is the latest & last OS version your iMac G5 can run...but...the actual latest OS version available is OS 10.6.7 (which requires an Intel cpu)...and which your iMac G5 does not have.
