Hi,

I need to place a file in /usr/local/lib/ folder however for some reason I don't have permission to access its contents even though I am the sole user of this computer and have administrator rights.

Any tips?

cmd + i on the folder you want to place stuff into, click the lock in the inspector window, admin password, then change it to "everyone - r/w" then change it back when you are done.

Try repairing permissions. This can be done with Disk Utility, or the freebie utility Onyx.

Administrator privileges are not the same as root privileges which are required to change files in various directories outside of your home directory. It's a little confusing if you're unfamiliar with *nix operating systems. More info here.

You should get a prompt to enter your password which will allow you to copy the file over.

Do not change the permissions on that folder - they are that way for a reason. You are not supposed to be able to manipulate files in that directory with ease.

Camus can't help you with your problems - that's positively absurd! :p

(That was a terrible joke, lol).
