Hi, a file was deleted from my trash this morning by accident. The trash was emptied - is there any way I can recover this at all?
Thanks for your help (simple answers are best please!)

Sorry for acting like Captain Hindsight, but don't forget to back up your data.

Thanks for the link - the recommended program is $99 and the 'free' Unix command line option seems rather daunting? Just wondering that for many users in which just one or several 'personal' files are lost (maybe a wanted photo or a letter?), recovery would be important but not at the price being asked. One would think that Apple could even add a 'Trash' option of showing recently removed files (like in the listing but w/ an * or such as the first character) that could then be restored (of course, if not overwritten).

SO, I guess my question is for those who do not need critical data recovery (such as a business where loss of production and $$$ is involved), are there any much less expensive options that do not involve using the terminal command line? Thanks for any comments - Dave :)

Unfortunately, the best programs which work well are expensive. However, most have trial versions which can be used to test with to see if the data can be recovered. Also, Data Rescue 3 (IMO, the best) has a version that can be used from an external drive for $59.99 in the Mac App Store.

A warm welcome to Mac-Forums.

Thank you for your post.

I suspect it won't attract much attention as the thread is over 3 years old.
