Augmented reality 3d on desktop mac

iMac 2008 running OS X snow leopard 10.6.8
I have printed off markers to see how this works. i open up web cam thru photo booth and then hold up paper and it does nothing. does anyone know what i supposed to be doing or if i need to download something different to make this work.

Which 'markers'? From a particular website?

AR works by a piece of software interpreting the 'marker' and overlaying something on the wecam image you can see.

To do this you need some kind of software to interpret the 'marker'.

Often this is an application on a website, sometimes it's a standalone app that starts your webcam and processes the image. It certainly won't be PhotoBooth.

If you post back with a few more details we should be able to point you in the right direction

OK, so for example go to the demos page on t-immersion.

download the mac version of the astra demo, install it, run it and follow the instructions.

Or try something like this:

for a web browser based demo

They all work along the same lines: a web plugin or a downloadable app
