I have begun to experience general slowness system wide, but it's usually when safari is open I think. Often, when I open a new tab in Safari, I will get distortion in the safari window. It will happen after it has been idle for a while, or I go and do something else graphics related and come back.

The other day, I was watching a movie, switched spaces (brought me back to Safari) and opened a new tab and saw that it was mixed with the movie I had been watching.

It only is mixed up like this for a few seconds, and then goes right back to normal... I attached a screenshot of this happening. Safari hung and gave me a pinwheel for about 30 seconds after I pressed cmd-t.

Well, it's doing a lot better now. I guess I'll find out after more use, but all I did was force quit "Window Server" and it logged me out and after I logged back in, the background changed itself back to the standard blue/purple nebula one, and is running muuuch faster.

It has come back. Maybe it's a problem with safari. How do I completely remove safari (saving the bookmarks and passwords)?

*edit* this is in 10.6.2
