Hello everyone.

I'm a new mac user and I'm struggling to get the cross platform KeePass application to run on my machine. I did the most of what the guide tells me to do - please see bottom of this page:

Setup - KeePass

I have installed mono, and I can start the application from the terminal. But since I'm new on mac os, I have no idea how to make a shortcut with the command line "mono keepass.exe". The way the guide describes it do not help me much, I guess it's written for more experienced users.

Can any of you help me with this?

Hmm. Password manager huh? Keyboard shortcuts unfortunately aren't the easiest thing to do in the Mac. But Macs DON'T run .exe files. That's a windoze thing.

That was what I thought as well, but with mono you can run .exe files in mac os. I think that mono is some sort of "framework" development tool designed to write cross platform applications. Check it out if you like:

Main Page - Mono

Its a password manager yes, and I'm not looking for a keyboard shortcut but an icon on the desktop I can click that will run a "mono KeePass.exe" command. Shouldn't that be possible?

Hmm.... I think I solved it. I right clicked my KeePass.exe. file, clicked More -> Automator - Create Workflow... then I added a "Run Shell Script" action, and in the Shell window I typed:

cd /Applications/KeePass-2.08/
mono KeePass.exe

Then I saved the Automator workflow as an Application on my desktop.

It's not the most elegant solution, but it works :)

Sure. I use Automator to launch my apps when I log on, it's a great tool!

WOW what a lot of crap to go through for a Password manager.

I love my 1Password that syncs to all my devices.

Am surprised that you got a .exe file to run without Windows installed. happy you got it going though.
