So here's the deal. Every once in a while, when I use the "show desktop" shortcut, when I maximize my screen again, a partially see-through frame appears. The most annoying part about it is that it appears to be above everything, meaning I can't click anything that's hiding it. Does anyone know what this is and how I can get rid of it? Rebooting constantly is a pain.

Switch the option off :)

Yeah that's not the issue. I know how to use voice over. Look at the image. It's a 3/4 cm thick partially see-through black frame around the whole desktop except on the side with the dock.

That is the border that is displayed around the screen when using the 'Desktop' shortcut. For some reason - who knows why, it's just not disappearing after going back to your apps.

Think I'd get rid of the preference plist file. Go to:

Users / your user / Library / Preferences
move the com.apple.desktop.plist file to the trash
log out and log back in - the system will automatically create a new plist file
that works, then you can empty the trash
if not, you can move it back where it came from

Interesting, you mean the one that is part of Expose? That does look just like his pic except for his browser open.

Yeah, so I'm not sure if that desktop plist file is for the "Desktop" expose shortcut or for the actual desktop itself (although probably the latter).
And not finding an Expose plist on my machine.

Not sure if it'd help, maybe run a repair permissions next?
