Using a MBP, after about 1 minute, the screen automatically dims slightly if no keyboard or mouse activity. I use my MBP for reading ebooks and frequently take more than a minute to change pages.

Is there any way to extend or disable this auto dimming? It doesn't seem to be related to power saving.

Go into System Preferences > Display
And deselect the "Automatically adjust" option.

Thanks for the tip falcontook. It is the option "Automatically reduce the brightness of the display before display sleep" that controls it. I deselected it for both Battery and Power Adaptor and that seems to have fixed it.
