I just recently noticed that the fastest browser I am aware of for Macs, Sunrise, has a new release, 1.4. I am typing this entry from it!

See: http://sunrisebrowser.com/en

to get your copy. It still seems as fast as the originals, still features the same innovative "graphical bookmarks" and still has the same compact minimalist design. I like it!

I'll have to get to downloading this. For me, Safari is working great. But there is always room for improvement. Thanks for sharing.

I would have jumped all over this if it had the gecko engine.

Actually, it says the Safari rendering engine is used, which I view as a strong point. It seems like almost everything else out there is based on Gecko. Different is good... as long as it works. In this case it seems to.

I always get excited the moment a new browser comes out... and then in a few days end up back on Firefox, which I have been using since the 0.3 Firebird release.

Does Sunrise offer Adblocking and selective pop-up blocking (i.e. you can choose which sites to block and what to ignore).

Nothing, and I mean nothing, comes remotely close to Firefox in having these abilities.

I don't care for the way safari/webkit/whatever renders pages. It's not vanilla enough. It injects Apple's Aqua into all forms. My feelings are that anything inside of the viewport should be the designer/developer's responsibility - and not changed by the viewer in any way. If a site has flat or sunken looking elements, Aqua form elements mixed in can really ruin the page.
There are other bugs with it as well. Which is a PITA when programming, having yet another browser's quarks to think about.

So... that's my anti safari campaign haha =)

Hey Zoolook, I really don't know the answers. I tend to agree with you on Firefox, which I have been using almost exclusively since it came out, with a brief digression to Safari for about 3/4 of a year when I first got my Mac. However, somewhere along the way, a system or Safari upgrade caused it to start crashing and I moved back to my old standby, Firefox. However, I keep my eyes open for new browsers and faster browsers, hence this thread.

I'll have to check into Sunrise and see if it has selective popup blocking. I am guessing that ad blocking won't be there.
