Excel for Mac Version 16.16.18

Hi all,
I created a table and getting the hang of slicers for the first time. For some reason, the total does not change when I pick certain categories but stays the same for the complete table. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? Thanks

Frostygirl...can you please explain what the thread title means. I'm not really sure what "Excel for Mac vs. 16.16.18" means.
