Bit of a long shot this, and I wasn’t really sure where to post it. It involves iCloud and the dreaded Windows, but here goes:-
My wife has an iPhone 5c and a Windows 10 PC. She has an Apple account with which her iPhone is synchronised.
I noticed that she appeared to have about six duplicate entries in Contacts on her phone, one of each of the duplicates appeared to be out of date so I deleted them, and they remain deleted on her phone.
All appeared well until I accessed her iCloud account on her PC and found that the Contacts that I had deleted on her phone were still there. I tried deleting them, but they returned so I tried editing them and after completing the edit clicked on ‘Done’ and got the message ‘Your changes to this Contact couldn’t be saved because it was just updated by another device’.
She uses Thunderbird as an email client, which does not appear to be synchronised with her iCloud Contacts, and none of the undeletable contacts appear in the addresses contained within Thunderbird.
It appears that something, somewhere, is synchronising with iCloud but has anybody got any idea how to find out what? Or how I can delete the unwanted, out of date, Contacts?
