Hi,
I sometimes need to type Greek or Russian, so I have enabled the Greek and the Russian typing input methods. But afterwards occasionally new programs install the Greek or Russian language versions of themselves even though I have my own language input method selected. Do I have to disable these input methods each time I install a new program, or what?

No, you should not have to remove your input methods each time. I have several Asian input methods chosen and it does not have any effect on my normal US English input. Just make sure when you're downloading or installing a new program that your input method shows what you normally use. You do that through the keyboard selection input sources. It helps if you keep your language selection (small flag) in the top right corner menu.
