OnyX is now available for Catalina 10 - 15 - 1

I downloaded and ran it this morning following the latest update and it worked just fine!

If you are unsure about OnyX, you can use Maintenance, Titanium Software | Operating system utilities for Mac - Maintenance, which is all that is recommended use for OnyX. Although, it looks like Maintenance is still not ready for Catalina?

Whilst I totally agree with Bob's advice and comments - no question about that - I can say this: if you download OnyX, and it is OS specific so get the version which applies to your Mac's current OS, Install it and Open it, add your Admin PW when prompted and then choose Maintenace and use the Default settings, you will be okay.

This app has been around for many years. It does no harm provided you don't start experimenting with the various options and ticking boxes here and there. Stick with Maintenance and the defaults. The Mac will reboot automatically when OnyX has finished its job.

May I ask one other point if that's okay.Did the latest update today went well no problems that I know of as yet.
just one point when I go to restart I get on the screen my name of course, also there are sleep Restart,Shutdown,Guest.Is that okay or is there an option to remove them.

Yes, those are the options from the login screen. Restart and Shutdown are there just in case you didn't want to get to the Login screen for some reason (booting in recover mode, for example) and don't want to go through the login process just to be able to shutdown or reboot. Guest is an option you can delete in System Preferences/User and Groups, but I find it handy for when someone wants to use your machine to check their own email (visitors, adult children visiting, etc). Guest account can't do much, and when logged off, everything they create as Guest is erased, so it's a nice function to have. However, to get rid of them use System Preferences/User & Groups, click on the lock icon then Login Options and un-check what you don't want to see. To get rid of the Guest User, click on the Guest in the side window and uncheck the "Allow Guests..." options.

I also created an account that has NO login functions or add-ons for troubleshooting. It's totally vanilla. Handy for when something goes awry in my own account and I want to see if it's me or the system in general.

Yes the Guest login option is very handy, especially for me running a guest house. Do have a look in System preferences > Users and Groups > Click the Lock in the bottom Left Corner enter your password to unlock then click on the Guest User in the side menu.
There you will see a full description of what it does. You will notice you can limit adult web sites as well (handy for children). Allow guests to access shared folders and of course you can just disable the Guest Login completely by unticking it which will remove it from your login screen.
