LastPass Password Manager

Good day to all.
Went to install the LastPass on my MacBook Air,Downloaded and installed it then to create an account when I entered my email it told me that email was already in use.had a thought and yes I did use the LastPass a few years back when I had a windows 10 laptop, it gave me an option to remember by the hint method My mind had gone a blank on that password.
Is there any other option that any body knows is there a method of replacing the password?.Or shall I forget all about it and go for another password manager.
Not sure if this question is in the correct place if it is Sorry.

You could also use a different email account to set up a new account with LastPass? I had (have?) two separate accounts with LastPass I was using before I stopped using a password manager. Now, since I always have my iPhone with me, I use Safari/Keychain and always have access to my passwords where/when ever I need to access them.

Generally, when this happens - (and it's not rare - we can all forget that x years ago we signed up for something, then forgot all about it) - you have the following choices:

Remember the previous PW. Highly unlikely.

You may be able to change the PW if there is a "forgot your PW" option.

Use a different email address if you have one. You may have more than one email address already; but if you only use [email protected], then you can create up to 3 email aliases by signing into iCloud.com - How to add an iCloud email alias and keep your email address safe | iMore

If none of these suits your convenience, yes, you cloud try one of the several other PW managers. I use 1Password, but our members here use quite a few others.

Hi Thanks so much for the reply.
Was thinking of using another password manager instead of the Apple Keychain as I have some bank details on the MacBook , Unless the keychain will do the same job?.

Well, as Bob (ferrarr) said, Keychain will hold all your PWs and sync them to all your Apple devices with the same Apple ID.

So you could use that. My, personal, concern with Keychain is that if it ever gets corrupted or otherwise fails, you have nothing left. Moreover Keychain only stores PWs.

Most PW managers do all that Keychain does plus you can add lots of other personal info into it. For example, app Licence numbers, Credit Card details, Logins, Secure Notes, Documents, Bank details etc - and these are encrypted on your Mac, then synced to all devices and the unencrypted on these devices.

If some catastrophe destroyed/lost your Mac, PW managers usually give you a recovery key which would allow you to recover all your data.

For me, I use Keychain as it's there, but store all my personal data on 1Password (most other PW managers are similar). Not knocking Keychain, just pointing out the potential problems and advantages of the alternative: a PW manager.

It's up to you.

Of course, delighted to assist.

Below is a screenshot of the options that 1PW has on offer on my iMac.

You will see that it tells you if you have reused PWs, vulnerable sites, which websites or apps allow 2 Factor Authentication (2FA), weak PWs, etc. Then further down, you have a great list of options such as Credit Cards, Identity (yours), Bank Accounts, Software Licences etc.

Watchtower is particularly helpful because it is linked to Troy Hunt's "Have I Been Pwned" - this tells you if any PW you have entered has already appeared in a security breach.

I might also add that when you need to fill in something in one of these categories, it brings up default boxes which makes the whole process very easy.

Lastly; I must stress that I have absolutely no connection with the 1PW company. It was my choice. Also, the other PW managers all offer their versions of much the same thing.

I use Enpass on both macOS and iOS.
The macOS base version is free and all information is stored locally on your device and or stored on iCloud for syncing.
It has all the features mentioned above by Ian including the Watchtower feature.
The only drawback with this app over the other two top contenders is that you cannot login to your account from a different device to access your passwords. This is of course a double edged sword. It means you can access your passwords from any device but so can anyone else (if they can get your ID an password) and your passwords are stored on a remote data base.
Yes Enpass stores your passwords on iCloud if you choose to but they are encrypted and can only be read by the app.
