Can anyone help me find this app?

Hi all,

I saw an app on the macOS (OSX as it was then) App Store a few years ago, and despite my best efforts I can't find it again.

The gist of the app was to remind you of anything you entered into the app periodically throughout the day.

For example, if I took some notes from a book and would like to be reminded of those notes randomly throughout the working day, this app would do that through a drop down from the menu bar.

The app icon for the app was something like a cat or a fox.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome to our forums.

The app store undergoes changes almost on a daily basis. Apps that were 32 bit have all been removed from the store when Apple deemed only 64 bit apps could be used with the next version of macOS (10.15.X). It's likely that the reminder app you're looking for is no longer available. It's possible you may still get a copy from the developer if you know who that is.

Apple already has two "reminder" type apps already built into the macOS:

- Stickies (which is a post-it note type way of reminding).
- An app actually called "Reminders".

If these don't do what you would like them to do...here's an article that lists "10 Mac Reminder Apps That Outperform Apple Reminders":

Besides what's already been suggested, you can search other sites or just use Google and you might want to have a look and do some searching here, especially considering not all Mac applications are listed at the App Store and some software developers avoid using it:
https://www.macupdate.com/

Note that all software listed has a link to the developers' site usually.

Believe me I know how frustrating this can be and asking your question on a forum like this is a good idea but as stated the App store just has so much and it does change regularly. Unfortunately the change to 64bit apps did get rid of a lot of old favorites.
I know a few people who swear by "Later" but you need the desktop version (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/later/id894333364) to sync with mobile devices and it's expensive. AU$14 +. I do like it's lightweight design and ease of use plus it has recurring reminders which I think you wanted.
There really are a myriad of personal organizers out there so if you do happen to find the one you were looking for or a better one we'd love to hear back from you. Good luck.

Hi all,

Firstly, thanks for your responses.

I don't think I quite described the app correctly, more than just reminders this app was to 'keep things at the forefront of your mind', so you would put quotes in there, pieces of knowledge, anything you'd like to have shown to you randomly to jog your memory, but they wouldn't expire or be due at any point.

I'll keep searching and hopefully I'll come across it!

This actually sounds JUST like the nagging app I need to get things done at work. :)

If you do find it, please share it.

Update: I found WeDo which has a Fox for its icon and seem to be more about reminding you about your tasks. Is this the one you were trying to find?

Nick, how fast can you run? When your wife sees your reply she might come after you! :D

I think mine must be broken. I don't get advance reminders but a belated "Why did you forget?". Not quite as useful!

Sawday, that is the "default" setting. You need to work with the wife to get her switched over to the "remind early" mode. Sorry I can't help with specifics, each wife is unique. I'm still trying to figure out my own...

On the subject of Wife, I've been happily running Wife 2.0 for 18 years or so now.

Prior to that I had Girlfriend 3.0 and then Wife 1.0. However after the uograde, Wife 1.0 became unreliable, unresponsive and more interested in other users. An incremental upgrade to Wife 1.1 failed to address the problems so it was uninstalled and replaced with Wife 2.0 and I couldn't be happier.

Sorry, I know this doesn't help the OP but it made me chuckle for a few seconds at least!!

Ha, ha, me too. Personally I persevered with Wife 1.0, updating and modifying existing software and preferences until Wife 1.0 performed as required. Of course some bugs remain and occasional reversion to earlier performance occurs from time to time but I'd rather that than have to reset all my preferences on a newer model.

I, too, am running Wife 1.0. Although I tried to apply updates early on, I have learned it is better to live with the bugs and adjust my own behavior. Originally I did try the update approach, but the results were, shall we say, spectacular (and not necessarily in a good way)?

Now I bet that makes for some interesting stories.
