    hi there
I am looking for a free easy to use video editor to cut and paste sections of video. anything else included is a bonus!
I use Audacity for sound but not sure about which app to use to work on videos.
way back I used adobe Prem Element and that worked well tho
don't want to buy an app as I use it rarely.

    can anyone help?

How about giving Quicktime a go? It's free and is native to your Mac.

From this link, you can follow up on video editing as well as exploring some of its other features: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/quicktime

See if it meets your needs.

Have to agree with Ian about QuickTime Player. If all you need to do is trim, join or combine video clips I use it rather than iMovie. iMovie has much more flexibility but sometimes it is overkill.
