MacOS 'cleaning software' is best avoided and is usually shunned here - the main recommendation is to used OnyX from Titanium Software, which is on my Mac computers - if interested, visit the link and download the version specific for the macOS you have installed - just run the routine tasks. There is a difference between "cleaner" apps, and maintenance apps (like OnyX).

Cleaner apps, which remove supposedly unneeded files from your Mac to clear out space, are something that I don't recommend, because I've heard too many horror stories of people damaging their setup with them and rendering their Macs unusable and/or accidently trashing important files.

If you want a maintenance app, you probably don't have to purchase anything. I've created an entire Web site about this:

If you are running low on hard drive space, you are best advised to put your money towards a new external hard drive. External hard drives are very reasonably priced these days for a huge increase in storage space:

In my opinion, the best cleaner for you Mac, is macOS. It runs daily, weekly, and monthly, routine maintenance scripts that will help keep your Mac running smoothly. However, some of the things you will need to do to be safe on the web will help.

Depending on which version of macOS you are running will matter as well. The newer the OS, the safer your Mac will be, currently 10.14 is where it's at.

Also, whichever browser you choose to use to surf the web, you should also add a content blocker, and an ad blocker.

As with all tools used by man, they require your care and safety as well. That means practice safe surfing, and security of your data, and last but not least backup, backup, backup.

Actually, that is a bit of a misnomer. From my Web site:

"The thing is that these scripts do just about nothing of great importance. If they don't run for weeks, or even months, it's just not a big deal. So, despite the fact that these are called "maintenance routines," don't get concerned if they haven't run in a long time. Don't ignore this entirely, though, because if your Mac has a minor problem, in time failure to run the maintenance scripts will allow your Mac's hard drive to fill up with a bunch of invisible log files filled will messages about that minor problem.

I've stopped recommending that folks add extensions to their Web browser. Apple has started to deprecate many extensions to Safari, and the rumor is that eventually they will eliminate them entirely because they are an attack vector that they want to close off. Instead I've been recommending that if folks want to block ads and trackers and the like, that they move to a browser that includes that sort of security already built-in. Recently I've been recommending that folks check out this really excellent browser:

(Apple provides it’s own Web browser with the Mac OS; Safari. Why would you want a different Web browser? Because Brave is FAST, it blocks ads without the need for add-ons, it blocks trackers, and it has excellent compatibility with various Web sites. Brave simply provides a much nicer browsing experience than other browsers.

The best cleaner that I have found for my mac is a microfibre cloth to give a quick dusting occasionally. Mine came from Tesco but other suppliers are available
