Pretty amazing, isn't it? I'll have to start recommending it more. For now it even seems to be a better option than LibreOffice.
Something else about FreeOffice is that it takes up less hard drive space and uses less resources than LibreOffice.


Just another + for FreeOffice 2018 for some users is it seems to work well even in Mavericks 10.9.5 even though their site says:
System requirements:
• Windows 7, 8, 10, Windows Server 2008 R2 or newer
macOS 10.10 or higher
• Any PC-based Linux (32 or 64 bits)

I guess the old adage if it's to good to be true be careful.

Programs like FreeOffice and LibreOffice aren't in the category of "too good to be true." They are "open source" products, which means that the product is a group effort by the worldwide community.

Someone offers a code base as open source so that any programmer anywhere can modify it to suit their needs. All of the upgrades and additions are likewise added to the code. In this way everyone benefits, and regular users like ourselves get applications that are entirely and sincerely free.

In the case of these open source "office" products, it means that schools, non-profits, and other organizations aren't held up for the ridiculous prices that Microsoft charges for MS Office. It's in their self interest to have their own programmers continually update the code for themselves and the community.

Randy, thanks for the open source explanation. Been trying a few db but haven't found mine yet. will look at your suggestion.

Assuming Kenny is not a programmer, is it possible that he could contact one of the open source programmers to make a change that would suit his needs? IE: I guess that would be like asking for a custom application, but maybe some like doing something like that.

Just wondering out loud... and just a thought...

You are correct Patrick, I am no programer. I'm self taught other than a A + class. I started playing with Access a long time ago and learned how to create queries, make forms etc. I was doing this for my own enjoyment and also to keep tract of stuff. I've played with a couple free or small charge db but after the years I've spent on access it's kinda like driving a Ferrari then going to a Nova. I haven't tried LibreOffice or Apache OpenOffice but I don't think you can just download a section of it but haven't tried. I'min no hurry so I'll keep looking. I do appreciate all the helpful input from everyone though.

Maybe it's time to have a look and play around with FileMaker Pro.app. Not exactly the cheapest app but some users I know do amazing things with it. And it's fully Mac scriptable I believe if that helps.
