A friend gave me their used iMac about two weeks ago which was a real upgrade from what I was using before (a very old MacBook). Safari worked fine for about two week then stopped working/loading and I get a dialog box that Safari has been corrupted and I should erase it from my computer and re-install it.
Now, this iMac computer uses OS X 10.10. 5 (Yosemite) which I realise isn't the current operating system. The version of Safari in my computer that quit working is version 10.1.2. There are two newer versions of Safari : 11.1.2 and 12.0.2, according to my research. I'm afraid if I erase the Safari version I've got now and then try to download Safari, I might get the newest version which may or may not work with my operating system that I have now. Is there a way that I can request a download of Safari version 10.1.2?
At some point in future, I'd like to upgrade the operating system also but I'm not far enough along yet to know what hardware requirements are necessary to upgrade Yosemite on this particular iMac, or if that is even possible to upgrade the OS X at all with the hardware present in this computer and its age. However, I like this machine and it works well for me and fills my computer needs well.
Thanks for any help or expertise you might be able to provide,
Bob M.
