Hi all,

I have a problem with a macbook air and office not giving me the extra menus when you click the little down arrow, text colour those kinds of menus.

The current os is 10.14 mojave but it was happening prior to this.

The office version is 2016 15.14.

I have tried installing back over the top and there are no updates for the os or office available.

I hope someone has seen this before ?

Thanks very much.

An update:just tried resetting the normal.dot to a new one did not work.

Welcome to the forum.

A couple of quick questions: What did you mean by "install back over the top?" Was that Office you reinstalled?

Office is up to 16.19, at least for my Office 365 installation, so you may want to see if there are updates to Office that you have missed.

Barring any updates, about all I can suggest is to totally uninstall Office and do a clean installation from scratch.

Thanks for the reply, yes I installed over the top it's a volume license, how do I get more updates installed if it isn't showing them when click the check for updates in word?

I would suggest going to Microsoft and seeing if there is any help there for getting the most recent version, or to verify that your version is, in fact, the most current. And you can see if they have any help for your issue, too.

Open Word, go to Help in menu bar, and choose "Check for Updates'.

He stated that he has a volume license. I'm not sure how those work anymore but he may have all the updates that are available under that license. In any event, it's best to ask Microsoft or inquire from their Office forums where the experts hang out. Technet forums - Mac Office
