Spotlight no longer searches content of Numbers spreadsheets?
    Hi,

When I search using spotlight via finder, it no longer is able to search contents of SOME of my numbers spreadsheets.

I write ‘SOME’ because it seems to not be able to search spreadsheets created since I updated to v5.2.

Can anyone verify this is the case for them as well, and better yet any solutions?

EasyFind or Find Any File will search inside files for content. I can't help with Spotlight and why it's working the way you are seeing it.

Hi, thanks for your reply MacInWin.

I tried EasyFind and it doesn't work either. It is as though the new spreadsheets are being blocked from being indexed. Find Any File states on its website that it specifically does not search file contents so I didn't give that a try.

I don't use Numbers that much, but is it possible you are somehow adding some security that is encrypting them? Can/does Numbers do that?

Interesting, I just created a Numbers spreadsheet with a word in it, saved it on the Desktop and then use EasyFind to search for it on the Desktop and it did NOT find it. So I wonder if somehow Numbers IS encrypting the files?
