Wowee! Some time back I invested in an app called Snapshot Editor, mostly to annotate screen shots and photos for forums like this one and it has been terrific. Today I read this article https://www.macobserver.com/tips/quick-tip/macos-mojave-screenshot/ and became aware of all the editing and markup tools available in the Screenshot Utility. It almost makes the app I paid for redundant except for use with photos.

Nice, but why did they bury it in Applications, Utilities, a place where almost no one looks for apps?
