Hello,

I have been searching everywhere for an app (native or web) that allows me to use a Document Scanner functionality on my Mac.

What I mean by Document Scanner is the function that is built in to iOS allowing you to take a photo of a document and it allows you to do a multipoint crop that restructures the image the a proper rectangle and also includes easy filters for B&W, Color, text, etc. Other apps that offer this function on iOS are Genius Scan, Office Lens and many others.

But it would be great to do something like this on the Mac, say you have the photo of a receipt, I'd like to be able to do the Multipoint crop (it doesn't matter if it isn't automatic such as with the iOS apps), apply the filter and export as PDF.

I can't imagine I'm the only person that would find this functionality extremely useful, but yet I can't find a single app that allows me to do this on a Desktop environment.

Does anyone know of any options?

Thanks in advance!

Why not use the iOS device, then use the SHare button to share it with the Mac?

An iMac has a camera that can be used with Photo Booth, Mojave has the Screenshot app that can crop the image and this can then be exported as a .pdf file. Or am I looking at this a bit to Simplistically?

Thank you for your responses.

I'll elaborate on what my workflow is to hopefully give a better explanation.

I do bookkeeping work for external clients, I receive photos of their receipts via a Webmail account only accessible from my mac (unfortunately I don't have control over this as it is the clients IT guy that locked it that way and he is too freaked out about Cyber security to make it differently).
I like to upload all the receipts in a tidy manner, so I like them to be in PDF format, and I like them to be cropped so that only the receipt is visible.
Currently what I do, is download all the receipts to Genius Scan on my iPhone, crop the photos and export the scan back to my mac via AirDrop. This way works, however it is very time consuming when you are doing anywhere between 10-30 receipts per day.
I have sometimes used Preview on my mac to crop the image, however Preview only crops with an exact Rectangle (90 degree angle on every corner) so if the receipt is mis-aligned, I'm unable to crop it correctly.
I know there are ways to do this with Photo editing software like Photoshop (but it's a bit overkill to buy photoshop just for this), I've tried Gimp, and although it works, it is terribly slow to the point that it's easier to do the Mac-iPhone-Mac method.

I may just be too picky about this that's why I can't find any app that does this, as no one really cares to go this extreme, but I just wanted to see if by any chance anyone had found anything.
