Someone sent me an invitation that attached itself to my calendar. I deleted it but the red dot with a "1" is still showing on Calendar's desktop icon.

Is there a way I can get rid of it? It's very distracting. Thank you for your expertise and assistance.

When you have Calendar open, look in the top menu bar, toward the left corner, there should be an icon there, that when you mouse over it, will have a drop down, to accept the invitation. That should be what the desktop icon notification is informing you of.
