For those of you who are testing the Mac Office 2016 Preview, be aware that the Preview expires on Monday, August 10th. You will either have to activate it (purchase) or not use it any longer. (The latest update on all the Office 2016 apps is 15.2.3.)

Right now the only way to activate the Office 2016 suite is by subscribing, however, next month it will be available as a stand alone download from Microsoft. I'm not certain whether Microsoft intends to make it available on disk, we'll have to wait and see.

Thanks. I should have posted that when I tried to open an Excel file yesterday or day before and got the message. Haven't decided what I will do. The 2011 version pretty much does what I need it to do.

I'm not thrilled with Office 2016 at all. Other than it now looks very much like the Windows version, I don't see where it's really a step upward. Maybe later on if MS spruces it up a bit, I might buy the stand alone version.

That's kinda my feeling as well. Its been stable for me and worked well but it doesn't really have a compelling reason for me to upgrade. If it were dirt cheap maybe otherwise I'll probably pass.

Thank you guys for reminding me to turn off auto-renew. I downloaded MS Office and tried it out -- frankly I think it's the best version of Office I've used over the years -- but my life just doesn't require an Office suite anymore, so I intended to let the trial lapse. Luckily, you reminded me a couple of weeks before I would have been billed.

I'd agree - most of what's new is a lateral step. When it came out, it was actually worse in some ways (some weird graphics issues appear to have been worked out in a recent update).
