Hi,

I bought a box set of The Big Bang Theory 1 to 5 in iTunes a while back, and updated the series information for the episodes so that it was split 1 to 5 as it should be. This worked fine in Mavericks.

After upgrading to Yosemite, the episodes were collapsed back down into all being considered series 1. I've broken them out again three times, and they stay separate for a period of time then collapse back into one again with no apparent trigger event.

Has anyone else seen this?

Any suggestions for how to resolve it permanently?

I'm up to date on OS and iTunes updates.

I would be thinking it has something to do with how iTunes has Tagged the episodes.
When you say you have broken them out into each series, did you do this via the Info Panel ?? Changing the Season number and episode numbers to them all ??

I've seen this behaviour when I briefly had iTunes 12 on my Mavericks system. Particularly badly affected were shows where some seasons were bought in the US iTunes store, and some seasons (or shall I say, series) - in the UK one. Funnily enough, when I removed v.12 and put back 11.4 - everything went back to how it supposed to be ...

Thanks for the replies.

The episodes originally came numbered 1 to approx 110 and all part of the same 'series'. I used Get Info to change the series number as appropriate but left the episodes numbered 1-110 as changing them to match the series instance seemed like unnecessary effort. When I look in the iTunes media folder (which is on an external drive, if that makes a difference) they are correctly grouped by series in the folders.

Interesting to hear that someone else has experienced this and it may be an iTunes version issue. How can I downgrade iTunes on my Mac to see if this is my root cause?

Unfortunately, it is a rather complicated process, with way too many opportunities to seriously mess up the whole system, for me to recommend it. And that's even before taking Yosemite into account. Almost certain the old iTunes version (11.4) will not install on 10.10 at all.

Ok, I'll just have to wait it out then; hopefully the next release will solve this niggle!
