So I just got my new Macbook Pro last week with Mountain Lion. I am having issues with setting up my hotmail. I get mail on the account, however when I read or delete it does not sync with the server. Anyone have this issue before and is there a fix?

POP downloads and manages all your email locally

Only an IMAP account syncs with the mail server and manages your mail with the server

How can I change it to IMAP. I tried under preferences where it says pop, but it does not seem to do anything.

I don't think you can switch to IMAP in Hotmail, or at least for free. It's been a long time since I got rid of my Hotmail account, so I'm not sure if they offer free IMAP or not. However, Google Mail (GMail) has free IMAP and POP accounts and sets up very easily with Mac Mail. You might want to consider switching.

I actually have both gmail and hotmail. My gmail works great, but my hotmail is giving me issues.
