I need a video converter to produce .smv videos

I'm looking for an free application that will convert .avi files (and other types) to .smv files for an mp4 player a friend got for Christmas.

There seems to be a number of programs for Windows but I can't find a Mac applications.

Any suggestions.

No there is nothing on the Mac that does this

I would strongly suggest that your friend takes the player back to the shop, if it is advertised as an MP4 player and it cannot use mp4 files then that is a false product specification

Unless you want to use windows software to do the conversion, contact your local consumer organisation for advice

There seems to be a lot of people with problems with these "Mp4 players"

After using the software on PC to convert the files, they still do not play. So you have confirmed my thoughts.

It was horrible going back to using the PC btw!
