My old iPod Nano seems to have a problem with its connector, which means the car stereo loses it whilst driving. I tried a new cable but the same thing happens intermittently.

The only replacement I could buy is an iPod Touch.

Unfortunately, this is not found by the car stereo until I type in the passcode and unlock it.

Normally, I leave it plugged into the USB socket in the centre cubby under the armrest, out of sight. The old device remained connected and the music resumed automatically. The new device has to be unlocked manually every time I start the car. Then the stereo finds it as a source and I can select it and the music resumes.

Is there any way to make it stay visible as a source all the time please? The only alternative is to see if I can get an older device from Amazon or the like.

Go to Settings->Passcode and see if you have an option for USB Accessories there. If you do, disable that setting. That might allow the car to see the iPod at all times. The other option is to remove the passcode to unlock the phone.

I may have fixed this.

I considered turning off the passcode but that didn’t seem advisable, so I checked the passcode settings and found an option to unlock for USB accessories. This was not enabled by default, but I enabled it and it seems to work.

Happy now, so far :)

Can you possibly connect with Bluetooth?
