How do I transfer the music that's on my wife's Nano to iTunes?

Once that's done, I will put the music on the brand new iPod I got for her birthday.

In advance, thanks!!

What computer will you be using to do the transfer and what version of the OS is installed?

Normally you can not transfer music from the Nano iPod to iTunes on your Mac or PC. The syncing only works one way - from iTunes to iDevice. However, third party software will do what you want: iExplorer or iMazing (both not free). You can find them using google or your favorite search engine. There may be other free ways to do the transfer which I'm sure that our moderator Slydude will advise you of.

Have a look at Senuti as a possibility. I thought this program has disappeared but the info says t works on 10.5 and higher. This article is older but it has some useful information.

Senuti should still work but like iExplorer and iMazing, it's not free.

We will dig around a bit (Slydude and myself) to see if there's anything that's free or another method that doesn't involve buying an app.

Thanks for mentioning those options Charlie. I should have included them. Sent isn't free but the demo lets you transfer up to 1000 songs and runs for 30 days.

Used the free version of Senuti and since there were only 400 songs everything went well. Thanks everyone.

Senuti cost me $10 back 2 years ago. Didn't do a good job at all. Can't recommend it but that is just me.

Your welcome. Glad this worked for you.

I don't have to do this often but Senuti often comes highly recommended. I usually use one of the programs Charlie recommended. They are not free but handle more types of information IIRC.

I didn't buy it, but the current price is $18.00 or $18.50, so not an earth shattering amount. Without a manual it took me a little longer to transfer the songs.
