Whats the best software to use for getting all my music/playlists off my ipod touch onto my new mac?

I have an external hd but because my library in there is set to windows format im not sure if will work. My external HD is a 500gb Maxtor.

I know that windows had a way without using any software, i was wondering if Mac has a bit where you can manually do yourself.

One way is to have your new Mac and your old Windows machine turned on, both attached to the network and then turn on the Homesharing feature in iTunes and move them across that way.

Or just connect your external to the Mac. OS X will read from your NTFS formatted drive perfectly fine, it just cannot write to it natively.

Yamipod is a free tool if you want to look that way.

I am going to backup my music on my hard drive and i think i am going to use Senuti (just discovered it) to get my music onto my mac, if that fails i have all my music backed up on my external hd.
