I'm stumped. Please help.

Message:

"Your iphone cannot make and receive calls or access cellular data until it has been updated."

I don't know what else to update... Thanks!

Did you check the SIM card? And does your iPhone 7 work okay on WiFi?

Doesn't make sense that updating to iOS 13.1 would stop your phone from accessing cellular data.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, it works fine on wifi.

But when I go into the settings mode and goto "cellular" it says "error"

The update that is mentioned is the Cellular update that needs to happen. Follow these instructions to get it resolved. And if that doesn't do it for you, you'll have to talk to your carrier to resolve this for you, this isn't specifically related to the iOS update.

Thanks.... I'm trying to make this happen. It shows no need for updates. went to my carrier, "straight talk" and now it says my sim doesn't match. what a mess.

You might want to power down the phone, take the SIM card out and power it back on to have it acknowledge no SIM and then power it down again and put the SIM card back in and see if it re-connects to the cellular network and perhaps triggers the needed update.

Phone never got past the apple screen. I ended up shutting it off and putting the sim back in. now it's sitting at the apple again. I don't know *** is going on at this point.

That is very odd, the lack of a SIM card shouldn't prevent it from starting up. Lots of people use old iPhones as iPod Touch's purely on WiFi when they upgrade to a newer phone.

Yeah.. this entire thing is f'd up now. I've tried doing the reset w/ the lowering volume and power button. it goes down and comes back up and just sits on the apple.

i'm about ready to smash this thing onto the ground.
