Hello all,

For some reason my iPhone 8 no longer shows up in either iTunes on both my mac and MacBook air. All software is up today date on all devices, and the phone is showing up under the USB tab in the hardwear. (running on Mac high sierra and phone is iOS 12.1.1)

Any ideas on what to do please?

Thank you.

You may by default have Apple's USB protection activated.

Try this:

Quit iTunes. Reboot the Mac. Connect the iPhone 8 via USB to your Mac. Unlock iPhone with passcode or Fingerprint (in fact it may insist on passcode).

When unlocked you may/sometimes not, see a message like "USB Access " or similar, with "OK" underneath. Click on OK.

Then see if your iPhone is recognised. If yes - got your answer.

If No, then the latest update to iTunes may have been corrupted. This has happened to me twice. Phoned Apple Support (Apple Care) and they told me to re-download iTunes from here: https://support.apple.com/en_US/downloads

NB The iTunes app and its library are totally separate so there is no danger of losing your Music.

Please post back.
