I was trying to turn on TFA on one of my iCloud accounts yesterday and found out the option isn’t available on that account. It’s not my primary iCloud account but I wanted to add it to Outlook and need the app-specific pw. Any ideas on how to get TFA turned on when it isn’t an option in settings?

A warm welcome to Mac-Forums.

You say "one of my iCloud accounts". To the best of my knowledge, 2FA is only available for your primary iCloud Account. If you have created aliases - you are allowed up to three - 2FA is not active on these.

On the other hand, if you are telling us that you have several different Apple IDs, each with their own iCloud address, then 2FA should work on each one.

They are not aliases, but separate iCloud accounts.

Just to satisfy my ignorance: You mean separate Apple IDs? Each with its own iCloud Account?

Thank you for posting back. Appreciate that.

For each Apple ID; it's a question of signing in to that ID via your Browser, inputting the email and password, then into Accounts, then into Security - which is where you can activate 2FA.

Then sign out.

Then sign back in the next Apple ID with, again, its own email and PW and repeating the process for each account.

Remember: it's sign in via Browser to each ID - do the business - sign out. Repeat with each account.

What devices are you trying this from?

If you have a Mac, create a seperate user account for each Apple ID?
