The process you went through should've given you the option to restore a backup. When I got my Xs, the clerk at the store wanted to make sure the phone worked before I gave them my 6S, so he got it going but didn't restore the backup so the phone was setup as new. So after I got home, I did a full reset and then got the option to restore from a backup and with that I had all of my previous data back again.

Yes, that is how it worked for me with both my X and Xs Max. I started it up new, set it by my old iPhone and let it do it's thing. The only thing I had to do was setup a password and face recognition plus input a bunch of app passwords.

Got it all installed from a backup.

Seems smaller than my 6S+ :(

However, it does seem faster with some things, such as the Books App. Not used to managing without a Home button yet. Very much a question of learning the solutions to a problem that need not have been created.

Early days yet. Not blowing my mind yet, but very likely it will eventually :)

I love the lack of a home button because my old fingers are getting lines in them that makes my fingerprint hard to read. I have a lot of problems with my iPad mini and usually enter my pin.

As for the learning curve - I feel your pain. More than one or two frustrated words escaped my lips as I tried to figure out how to do something that use to be easy to do when using the home button.

Give it some time and eventually you will be a pro. My husband still has an 8 and I find myself having to rethink how to's when working on his phone.

Actually, it is a bit smaller than your 6s+ but not by much. I've compared sizes of the new iPhone line and personally prefer a smaller phone without giving up screen size. The Xr screen is larger than your 6s+ while the length of the phone is shorter and about the same width.

Dimension wise, the Xs is the smallest of the three new iPhones while the XsMax is the largest.

And then come all variations with all the pixels, points and resolutions, and how they relate to the users use and eyesight capability:

Mobile design 101: pixels, points and resolutionshttps:

And how things might appear on them:

Almost mind boggling, especially for the average user when reading the specs, unless you are a builder or designer or programer or maybe.

Bought a thinner case for it, plus a cordless charger.

Now feeling a lot better - it felt big and cumbersome with the original case and the cordless charger is handy on my office desk.

Getting a little more familiar with the lack of a Home button. The instant unlock is good but I still have to scroll up so not really that different than the fingerprint reader.
On the other hand I will admit it is fast and the graphics are good. Watched a film last night (rather small screen) but the picture was clear and good quality.

Not needed a headset so far, so the lack of a headphone socket has not been a problem yet.

p.s. the reload due to token expiry error is back again :(

I sure had to chuckle when I read this, especially when we're considering getting a newer TV and all the expert sales people tell us not to think of any set less than 55" for our particular use.

I just can't imagine myself wasting my time trying to watch a movie on something so minuscule, let alone the sound quality or volume. Why…???

Younger folks today are very mobile. They watch movies or listen to music on their iPhones even when at the gym exercising. Besides that, they have better eyesight than you or I. ;) I have a large screen TV in our living room but find myself watching the smaller one in my home office instead.
