I have an iPhone X but am thinking of getting an Xs or Xr but only if it has a better camera than the X.

Does anyone know if the new phones have a way better camera than the X? Or should I just stick with my X?

What exactly is the difference between Single 12 megapixel versus Dual 12 megapixel?

A warm welcome to Mac-Forums. Thank you for joining us.

I have the X as well. My reading and understanding is that, in practical, noticeable terms, the new Tens don't offer much more than what you have already.

Give this article a read: https://techcrunch.com/2018/09/12/t...bout-the-iphone-xs-camera-today/?guccounter=1

It might/might not make things clearer:). Read the camera comparison chart re the X versus XS. Almost identical.

Oh ok. Thanks. I know there’s aperture control afterwards but I can always blur backgrounds out in Photoshop.

Welcome! I'm puzzled bpm125. If you're running (the very expensive editor) Photoshop you obviously have a "proper" camera so why worry about the one on a phone???

I just want the sharpest image possible. Also sometimes I don’t have my MacBook with me.

As for the suggested comparison URL above, I would seriously suggest one do some googling on more recent comparisons between the older X iPhone camera and the new iPhone X models, especially if one is into some high-end photography.

Some of the examples I saw just a day or so ago were quite dramatic when seen side-by-side, and I'm not even a critical Photo nut.

But whether it's worth a $1,000.00± outlay or not would be up to the user I would guess.

I understand the newer iPhone cameras incorporate some new software enhancements as well that can bring out the details with some photos.

Hey, I take a lot of photos, ok?

And I do manipulate them with Photoshop.

I just want the best photo without having to carry around a $3000 Nikon.

I am not sure how those statements relate to your original question, but maybe you should just do some Google searching on some comparisons and reviews between your iPhone X and the newer iPhone X models.

There are lots out there already and more showing up every day.

Hey, all I want is the best original photo to work with.

I've have googled comparisons but no review has a definitive answer as to the improvement of the camera. Just pros and cons.

I'll just make the google on the computer machine just for you.

But I believe that is what reviews generally do and then it's up to the reader to make a decision as to what would suit them better as there are generally so many variables involved.

But some certainly do have some definitive opinions as to which they prefer.

@bpm125

With respect, I gave you the answer in my post #2.

The relevant comparison chart between the iPhone X and the XS is shown below:

As I mentioned, the specs are almost identical.

On trips, I use both an iPhone (7) and a Lumix bridge camera - phone for a quick upload to WhatsApp, facebook, etc; camera for the record - and in some shots cannot tell the difference. But when it comes to zoom, I have not seen any phone rival what I can get with the Lumix.

Wow, that's just earth shattering the advances Apple incorporated with that new iPhone XS wouuldn't you say Ian, eh??? Amazing what Sir Jonathan Ive and his crew did and the prices Apple put on them. Just mind boggling when I see such a nice simple comparison such as you supplied, it really opens up one's eyes, right??? :Smirk:

Yes, really smirking here... :Smirk:
