I also can't see the point of wasting my money just to be in vogue.

You're in Vogue Magazine, Patrick. I bow before your excellency.

I once almost made it into the Dandy, or was it the Hotspur.............. You have to have some UK background to understand that last bit:):D

I take it then... that you haven't been pricing the latest Galaxy series of phones from Samsung? :)

Why should I, have an iPhone 8+ with 256 GB storage...;D

I have an iPhone 6S+ and an iPhone SE.

I am thinking seriously about buying an Xr when they are released.

However, if I go out without a coat - and thus without a pocket large enough for the 6S+, I just take the SE with me. It fits safely in my back pocket, I can sit down without breaking it and it does pretty much all I require of it. The only real downside is the smaller screen.

Even so, I still want an Xr - just so I can play with the extra features. A rather expensive toy unfortunately :)

If you like features with cell phones you can afford and usually fit in your pocket, maybe you should look at some of the old classics and the features they had:
5 "dumb" phones that are much better than the smartphones we have today

Personally, I'm quite content with my old Samsung Flip phone that I still use occasionally and may even need charging once a month, if that. Oh yes, and it cost me about $25 a year to operate.

I have some of those as well. Batteries wearing out now but still had some good features :)
