There are quite a few differences. The XR body is aluminum whereas the other two are stainless steel, LCD display compared to OLED, less built in memory, and some others. Take a look at the link Patrick included.
When you say memory, you mean???? Storage or RAM?

Yeah, I looked at his link.

Memory = Ram. ;) The XL entry model will have a capacity of 64 GB. My 7+ has a 128 GB capacity, however, I'm only using around 20 GB. For me, the entry model XL would be okay as far as storage space is concerned.

I'd probably drown with that much considering my old iPad 2 which I don't use too much only has 16GB I believe, and it sill has lots of room available.

But I doubt that I'll ever need or use an iPhone.

On my iPad one and iPad air I only have 16GB storage and often run out. On a phone for basic stuff it would be different but so many today use their phones like iPads so the more storage the better.

The only reason I opted for the 16GB option with the Air was limited $$$ available at the time.

Just like my 16GB iPad 2 and one of the reasons I jailbroke it so I could use a "cleanup" app to remove all surplus localization languages and some other surplus stuff that saved several GB's of space. Yes, that was with iOS 7.x. Haven't bothered lately as I use it so little and have space available.

EDIT:
Of course now, there are several other tricks you can try to increase your iOS storage space, like this if it still works:
IPHONE STORAGE SPACE CAN BE DRAMATICALLY INCREASED BY TRYING TO RENT AN ITUNES FILM

I originally thought so, but after looking around the market there's not that much difference when you look at *current* flagships. And don't mistake, the XR might not be the flagship of flagships, but it is going to be one of the best phones in the world.

Compared to other phones, LG has a phone that was almost identical in shape and function to the X that is $750 right now (G7 ThinQ). The Galaxy S9 is about $700, and that's after it just dropped by $150 since the Apple announcements. While on paper it's one of the best deals out there, if you've ever used Samsung you know their 'add on' UI is laggy and their phones typically full of bloatware.

And, you'll never get updates for it 3 or 4 years from now like you do with iPhones. How many people you know still using a Galaxy S6? Those are iPhone 6S era Samsungs, they are worthless garbage now while the iPhone 6S is still used by many and still has significant resale value. Those Samsungs are on Android 7, if their carrier was good enough to roll it out in the summer of 2017. Google is about to roll out Android 9. My 6S is on 11.4.1 and will get 12 when it rolls out, assuming I don't upgrade.

Then you have the ecosystem you're buying into. Apple sells hardware, Google sells its customers data. Apple protects your privacy and security, Google sells it.

i.e. https://www.fastcompany.com/90236195/forget-the-new-iphones-apples-best-product-is-now-privacy

"Apple is now also enforcing its strict privacy protection policies on third-party developers. The company recently forced Facebook to remove its Onavo Protect VPN app from the App Store because Facebook was using it to create a log of every website an Onavo user went to (the app is still available for Android devices). "

The updates, security, privacy, long term value, fastest SoC on the planet, huge supporting market, these things go beyond just a spec sheet and have pretty much removed any question in my mind as to their value.

For me, my only question is, iPhone 7+, 8+, or Xr?

Interesting point, and supported here where only five countries are shown using the Galaxy S6 in their country lists, yet the iPhone 6S is listed in almost every country and near the top with very few exceptions.

I also read the other day that the iPhone 6S was close to still being one of the most popular cellphones in North America and often in # 1 or #2 position.

I guess my wife fits right in with here's she's happy with, and yes it was purchased used with a factory installed new battery.

Oh, my friend, c'mon. No comparison. XR, it's got to be?

Have to agree Ian, love those new colors and the lower price. ;) The only thing I'm not so keen on is the larger size.

Fascinating list. Pretty effectively proves that people keep their iPhones, not so much their Android phones. I don't think I stuck with any Android more than a year at a time, at which point something always seemed to go wrong. The 6S' we have are still good phones in terms of usage, but the batteries are getting flaky below 20% and mine has screen burn in where the Apple logo pops up. Must've done that during an OS upgrade. The wife really wants a bigger phone, and I'm traveling so much I'd like a bigger screen to watch movies and such on.

Anyway, we just got back from the Apple store and have two brand new iPhone 8+ 64GB models. I have to give up my aux jack, but I'm keeping my home button for now.

I can only comment from personal experience, naturally, but when I got the X, I very quickly became acquainted with the swipe gestures and realised that the Home Button was more of a nuisance than a help and took up valuable space. Space that was given over to increasing the screen size without significantly increasing the overall physical size of the phone.

Moreover, the Home Button, being a physical device is subject to wear and tear especially as it's used constantly.

As for the aux jack, the X comes with a tiny adaptor which allows you to use the jack in the same way as before. No big deal there.

Again, some complained about the "notch" at the top of the phone. I never notice it now.

But as I said, personal view only:)

If you mean XR body = XR frame, yes; both front and back is glass for all 2018 iPhones.

The XR has 3 GB memory, while the XS and XS Max comes with 4 GB. Storage wise the XR maxes out at 256 GB, the XSs at 512 GB. Maybe Apple is getting ready to release its VR headset that had been patented, dated back to 2008. The 4 GB memory and 512 GB of storage will be handy for the VR headset.

XR has single camera lens with the same specs as the XSs, but the XSs have two in the back. The front camera specs are identical on all models...

Regardless of the specs, all models are expensive. As much as I hate to say it, at this price range, I rather get an Android phone no matter how much I dislike that platform...

Just a personal view, obviously, but if I wanted to carry a brick around I'd buy a brick.

EDIT: The XR doesn't support 3D Touch; but then again, how many really used it and how many will miss it?

https://www.howtogeek.com/366074/no-one-knew-3d-touch-existed-and-now-its-going-away/

Agree on the Xr if those are the options.

On the 3D Touch, it's odd that they decided to kill it on the Xr, since the current LCD based iPhones have it and while I never used it much, it's an odd way of differentiating the Xr from the Xs/Max

Actually I wonder how many users actually knew it was there, and of those, how many actually knew how or managed to use it properly — if the app in use actually supported it.

The only people I know who used it were some iOS geeks. And it sure didn't seem to be supported by many developers.

Not exactly one of Apple's better iOS implementations I'd suggest.

Easy… for myself, my wife and all those that don't even need or maybe use one.

My old Samsung flip dumbphone suits me just fine and didn't cost me anything and is super cheap to run. And oh yes, it can hold a charge for weeks. Try that on a super pricy expensive iPhone!!! or most other expensive smartphones. :Smirk:

@Patrick If you're going to start letting a little thing like logic dictate whether new gizmos are purchased, the world's economy is in deep trouble. lol.

I take it then... that you haven't been pricing the latest Galaxy series of phones from Samsung? :)

Sorry Sly, but that's just the way my brain works.

I also can't see the point of wasting my money just to be in vogue.
