I have been using the same iPhone backup for 10 years for 8 phones and I would like to start over again with my new phone that I am getting today. Is there a way, though, to transfer JUST the photos into my camera roll without transferring the rest of my data? Thanks!

What specific data do you not want transferred? It may require you setting up a new Apple ID, or manually deleting what you don't want after the transfer? Remember, if you go with a new Apple ID, everything you purchased through the App Store, will need to be re purchased, or you will need to set up Family Sharing, https://www.apple.com/family-sharing/.

Well yes, I think there might be if you had been using an app like iMazing or iExplorer as your Backup (BU).

But if you are referring to your iCloud BU, then that's different.

So, the first thing we have to know is how were you backing up your previous iPhones?

Secondly, you could just restore everything to your new iPhone, then delete what you didn't want. I did this with my wife's iPhone and her iPad (we share the same Apple ID). Her iDevice content is vastly different from mine despite all the iDevices being under my Apple ID.

I'm not a fan of setting up a new Apple ID, only because of the problems outlined by Bob.

The great thing about Apple ID is that you can restore to "as before" and then delete what you don't want. That then becomes your status quo, as it were.

Please give us some more info on your particular situation. There's nearly always a solution:)

+1!!! Completely agree, especially for what the OP is wanting to do:
Using iMazing or iExplorer as your Backup/restore or partial restore = works well.
Using iCloud BU = will not and does NOT work

Simple. Use iMazing.app
(Note: I haven't used iExplorer for years so I can't say it's equal or not. It is somewhat cheaper for full use it seems.)
