I've had my iPhone 6 for years, and it's time for an upgrade.

I'm going to buy the phone (I already have a sim contract that I'm happy with) and looking at the 8, 8 plus or an X.

I haven't kept up with iPhone design or specs so am starting from scratch knowledge wise.

I'll be keeping the phone for at least 5 years so which one is going to be best for me?

I'm a light user - web, email, no gaming so I don't need huge memory. But I do want a really good camera. That's a must have.

Help!!!!!!

Hi Nick

Well, I'll start by stating the obvious - it's very personal at the end of the day.

Another obvious comment is that a new batch of iPhones is scheduled for release in the autumn, probably September/October. Lots of speculation on what these will be - dead easy to use Mr Google to get to the rumours.

As things stand now - NB now: If you can afford it, I'd go for the X. Why?

Great camera. Swiping gestures very easy to learn and once learnt, in my view of course, you'll never want to go back to a physical Home Button.

Face recognition incredibly reliable and fast in almost any lighting situation you can imagine. Glasses or hat on or off - no problem.

The physical size of the screen is close to that of the iPhone 8+, whilst the overall physical size of the device is smaller - somewhere between the 8 and 8+. Best of both worlds in that respect.

If a phone can ever be called "beautiful", it is the X.

Personal views, remember.

I love my iPhone X. Good choice.

If you weren't upgrading from a 6 year gap, I would've recommended waiting until the new crop of iPhones are announced in September. But since that isn't the case, the current gen iPhone X will absolutely blow your mind and whatever version of iPhone you had. Pretty impressive to have stuck with the phone for 6 years. :)

I don't think that is what he said. The original quote is: I've had my iPhone 6 for years

and I took that to mean that he had his (iPhone 6) for years, not that he had is (iPhone) for 6 years. Of course perhaps I am wrong and the OP can clarify.

You're probably right. I have a 6s right now and upgrading from a 6 or 6s to an iPhone X or the JUST announced iPhone Xs/Xr will be a huge bump up.

Just to put everybody out of their misery:):D -

The iPhone 6 was launched in September 2014 (Reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPhone_6)

So nobody could have had that particular iPhone for 6 years. OK, so I'm just being a smart Alec, but you know........ O:)
