I have a problem with an iphone 6.
Messages and Reminders have gone. I don't understand why.
How could that have happened? Maybe a virus?
I have a backup of the phone of many weeks before but If I use it I would also remove anything more recent currently on the phone. Is there a way to take only Messages and Reminders from the backup?
Many Thanks

There are no iPhone or iOS viruses, so we can eliminate that as a cause. Did you recently update your iPhone 6? Or, maybe you recently synced it using iTunes from your computer?

As for restoring the backup, unless you used a third party application to do the backup, it's all or nothing. We recommend using one of the several third party apps that are available to manage your iPhone. The one that I use is "iMazing 2" which allows for selective backups/restores and much more.

Messages and Reminders have gone.

You could try some of the recovery suggestions like this:
How to Recover Deleted Reminders and Calendar from iPhone for Free
https://www.iphonerecovery.com/recover-reminders-calendar-on-iphone.html

And others from the hits here:

And as chscag suggests, iMazing.app is probably worth a good look at and maybe even try that I also use for our iDevices:
https://imazing.com/

And then there's Apple's kb article to read and try:

Is iphonerecovery the best software to recover deleted data?
