Hey guys. I have an iphone 5s. I am with Tesco Mobile (o2) at the moment in the UK. I am traveling to Italy for a few months and need to get my phone working with a WIND or TIM (the 2 main Italian providers) sim, whilst I am out there. What steps do I need to take to make that happen?

many thanks

The simplest thing for travelers, I have found, is getting the iPhone unlocked. You should ask about this now while you are still in the UK: most providers will do it for a small fee IIRC (it may even be free if you've been a customer with them for a long while). Doing this means you never need to go through any hoops: the iPhone will "just work" with any foreign GSM SIM the world over, and the next time you take a trip there will be nothing special you need to do either. I travel a lot, and unlocking is always the first thing I do to an iPhone once I'm allowed to do so (here in Canada, you must be a customer for at least three months first).
