Not unless you install a third party keyboard (or jailbreak iOS).

Go to Settings->General->Keyboard and click on Keyboards. It likely shows English and Emoji right now. Click on the Edit button on the top right and delete the Emoji entry.

Go back to the main Keyboard page and scroll to the bottom and turn off Enable Dictation and you're done..

Well, goes to show how much I (don't) know about the keyboard, haha.

Hehe, that was my first reaction as well until I decided to check the settings just to be certain..and I'm glad I did since I don't like or use the emoji myself, so it was great to turn it off..:)

Have to agree there. I made the shift from an iPhone 4 to a 6+ recently. I had the same reaction even though I had been keeping up with / reading about some of the changes.

it just irks me because I have big hands and usually hit it by mistake. Also I prefer to take the time to make them manually ":)" More personal when I do it.

I find the voice dictation to be heaven on earth. I can't imagine why anybody would not want to use it, particularly on an iPhone! This entire message has been dictated, and it took me a fraction of the time that it would take to type it out.

This is akin to people who are totally into using emoji's for everything! Each have their preference and use. The original question was asked and answered. Anything beyond that falls into the land of personal opinions..
