I hope this is the correct forum to post this in.

I want to switch from T-mobile to AT&T and use my iPhone 4 that I bought from a friend. My question is, will I be able to use the credit from signing the 2 year contract for a new phone anytime after signing the contract. Like say, when the iPhone 5 or maybe later when the iPhone 6 comes out.

Doubtful, but you'd have to ask AT&T.

If you're joining a new carrier, that means signing on for a new contract. You can get a new iPhone for $199 with ATT or Verizon with said new contract. Even if you were eligible for an "upgrade", that price would still be $199. Otherwise, if you're using an unlocked phone, they don't care what you do.

I'm asking if I have to buy a phone when signing the contract, and if not then can I then use that eligibility anytime I want in the future?

No one here can tell you. You'll need to ask AT&T. But I'm going to say no, you can't.

I posted on AT&T's forums but they aren't cool like us, no one ever goes on there. I searched google and I've read a few testimonies that they will allow it. But yeah If anyone knows then please post it here! :)

Here's a wild suggestion, just a thought: call them on the PHONE and ask them.

Crazy, I know. :)

The answer is yes, the upgrade is still active if the contract is not signed. I was going through past threads I've created and figured I'd post the answer.
