I re-cycled an older mini into a server for my home theater. It's "headless" but the TV acts as the monitor for it. Even if you don't have a theater, you could use it with your TV as a server fro streaming. And I have a very old iMac serving as my home automation controller. So there are lots of uses for equipment that operates but which has been replaced.
Thanks Jake - I do have an Apple TV and AirPlay from my laptops/iPads, both audio and video - guess that the old Mini 4 could be used assuming the aging hardware is adequate? My idea to use as a 'database' for recipes would also be an option for us (have a great app called Paprika w/ many of our recipes) - BUT, I've boxed it up and will send to the place linked in my last post tomorrow - could still get a 100 bucks unless their people also find some 'internal' issue?
